Special Olympians of the future get ready

Smiling student emerges from under parachute

City School District of Albany elementary schools had a blast on Tuesday taking part in a first-ever Special Olympics Young Athletes event hosted by New Scotland Elementary School.

New Scotland students were joined by athletes from Albany School of Humanities (ASH), Arbor Hill Elementary School, Delaware Community School and Montessori Magnet School.

A huge shoutout to students and staff from Albany High School’s unified sports program, the Best Buddies program at Arbor Hill Elementary, and district faculty and staff, all of whom guided students aged 7 and younger in activities that boost skills in running, walking, balance, jumping and more.
