Happy Pride Month! The City School District of Albany is excited to celebrate those who represent and support the LGBTQ+ community. All during June, we honor LGBTQ+ people in our city, state and nation and commemorate the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City. I hope you had an enjoyable weekend, and I would like to wish a very Happy Father’s Day to all fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, godfathers and those devoted to the role of father who pour their hearts into raising our children.
To celebrate our amazing modified sports athletes, our district Athletics Department will hold a Middle School Athletics Celebration at Albany High School on Tuesday (today) from 4-5:30 p.m. If your child participated in modified sports during the 2024-25 year, they are invited to join us! This event will be held in the Albany High stadium and is for student-athletes only. Student IDs must be presented at the gate. Pizza, drinks, games and activities will be provided free of charge! for more details.
On Wednesday, tomorrow, we will administer the New York State Algebra Regents. Good luck to all our test-taking students!
This Thursday, schools will be closed as we celebrate Juneteenth and commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States in 1865. Also known as "Juneteenth Independence Day," "Emancipation Day", "Jubilee Day" and or "Freedom Day," Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021 and remains a valuable part of our nation's history. School will resume on Friday, June 20, with a full day of classes.
Attention parents of eighth-graders: Students must attend school for at least four class periods this Friday in order to participate in the Grade 8 Dance that evening. Therefore, your child must be in attendance on Friday until at least 11:10 a.m. If your child is leaving early, they must be signed out by someone currently on the student’s contact list. his is one of the best events of each school year, and we always look forward to seeing the students all dressed up and excited!
This week's Friday Fun Day theme is "School Spirit." Students should wear their favorite Hackett gear or school colors to show their school spirit! We look forward to celebrating each Friday in a different way in order to add a little fun to our day and show our school spirit. This is a great way to build healthy relationships and look forward to the weekend.
As a final note, Hackett Middle School continues its Fire Drill Emergency Response Procedures. Holding practice fire drills, as well as lockdown drills, is crucial to our overall emergency planning and will continue through the final weeks of school.

- The Algebra Regents will take place on Wednesday.
- There will be no school on Thursday as we celebrate Juneteenth.
- Locker cleanouts for eighth-graders will take place on Friday.
- The field trip for eighth-graders will take place on Tuesday, June 24.
- Thursday, June 26 will be the last day of the 2024-25 school year. We will have a full day of school, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
- A reminder that speed cameras are up and running on Delaware Avenue and many other school zones throughout Albany. Fines of $50 are being imposed on drivers exceeding the 20-mph school zone speed limit. Please drive safely and avoid these fines by being mindful of the school zones on your daily route. And please continue to abide by the law during summer school, which soon will be in session.
